Based on one of the best first and high-performance EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) sport jet platforms ever designed — the legendary Habu — the E-flite Habu SS 50mm EDF is the most affordable and convenient version yet, scaled down from the popular Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE) and SS (Super Sport) 70mm EDFs. It's the perfect first-ever EDF for low-time RC pilots making the transition into jet flying, and one of the best-ever everyday sport jets for experienced pilots! This updated and upgraded version features a stronger and stiffer airframe equipped with a now 3S and 4S capable power system compatible with extremely common and popular 1300–2200mAh batteries. Both versions include a Spektrum Avian 30-amp Smart Lite ESC and four factory-installed servos. Plus, the BNF Basic version is now equipped with an upgraded AR631+ receiver to deliver real-time telemetry data along with enhanced AS3X+, SAFE Select, and Smart Transmitter File (STF) technologies.
E-flite Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm EDF RC Jet Overview
The E-flite Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm EDF is ideal for pilots of almost any skill level, from low-time to experienced, seeking a hassle-free and fun-to-fly high-performance EDF sport jet. The unique and optimized design of its lightweight yet durable, composite-reinforced EPO airframe improves low-speed handling and slow-speed performance, making it one of the easiest to fly jets EVER! This updated and upgraded version features an improved airframe that's stronger and stiffer than before. And unlike other 50mm class models, it has a functional – and enlarged – rudder for added control and aerobatic capabilities. Inside, a Spektrum Avian 30-amp Smart Lite ESC and upgraded high-power brushless outrunner motor are ready to drive the 12-blade 50mm fan with a wide range of 3S – or now 4S – batteries. Install a 1300mAh battery to keep the weight down, an 1800mAh battery for an excellent blend of performance, or a 2200mAh battery for maximum power delivery and long flight times. With Smart and non-Smart batteries, the ESC can provide a variety of real-time power system telemetry data, including motor RPM, current, battery voltage, and more via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters. Wide-stance tricycle landing gear with a steerable nose wheel offers excellent ground handling for easier takeoffs and landings on surfaces ranging from paved and fabric runways to dirt and even short grass. It's also easy to hand-launch and belly land without the landing gear installed. The BNF Basic version is equipped with an upgraded AR631+ receiver to deliver real-time telemetry data along with enhanced AS3X+, optional-use SAFE Select and motor/thrust reversing, along with a convenient Smart Transmitter File. The Habu SS 50mm EDF arrives factory-finished in a high-contrast trim scheme with the power system, servos, and receiver (BNF Basic version only) factory-installed. That means you can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery!

Skill Level 3 – Experience Required
Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have the skills to assemble, set up and fly similar class models. This PNP version requires more experience and skills to assemble and fly than the BNF Basic version because you will need to install a receiver that does not already include properly tuned AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. It's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or “next step after a trainer” model for low-time to intermediate RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to assemble and successfully fly models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.3m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Habu SS 50mm EDF version.
Plug-N-Play® Completion Level
The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes out of the box with a factory-installed power system and servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately), plus the transmitter and battery you provide (also sold separately). Simply install the receiver, finish any final assembly, and fly!
Smart Technology
The Habu SS 50mm EDF is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. It also features optional-use motor/thrust reversing to offer special ground handling and other capabilities!
Versatile Power
The factory-installed brushless power system features a 30-amp Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC plus an upgraded and specially-tuned motor that delivers plenty of thrust with 3S 1300–2200mAh LiPo batteries, or more speed and vertical performance with a 4S battery without the need for any modifications or upgrades.

Jets are typically faster and harder to fly than most of their prop-driven counterparts, which can make it difficult for low-time – and sometimes even experienced pilots – to fly them. Easy Assembly
