Basswood Plywood

A new model builder plywood for the european market. Basswood is a light and flexible wood that is very suitable for model building and now also available as a fine plywood. The main application is for builds that need a lighter, more flexible plywood that also sands easier then a normal birch plywood.

The name basswood is what is used in Northern America. Here in Europe a more appropriate name would be Tilia, Lind, Linden or Lime but in model builders world the name basswood is more common as it has never really been widely available in Europe previously.


Features:

• Approximately 40% lighter then Aircraft Birch Plywood
• Used for model building
• 1.5-3.0 mm thick = 3-Ply (0°/90°/0°)
• 4.0-6.0 mm thick = 5-Ply (0°/90°/0°/90°/0°)
• 9.0 mm thick = 7-Ply (0°/90°/0°/90°/0°/90°/0°)

Compared to normal Lite-Plywood:

• Approximately 15-20% heavier
• Much more rigid (less warping)
• Not as soft (but much softer then Aircraft Birch Plywood)
• More uniform color
• Easier to sand
